SOLANGE KOWALEWSKI
A short presentation of Solange Kowalewski
Plastic artist, mainly burner (all processes intaglio), working also paints (acrylic, oil), drawing, photography and digital image has tried, since the beginning, in her researches and productions, to situate emotions, feelings, ideas and get in front of questions still rested.
The forms, although it is tempting to see them sometimes abstract retain a "personality" determined and well lie in a framework felt in a concrete way. They are "hidden".
From 1987, the attraction for both print and painting led to the work of the monotype, then to a connection / synthesis of these two ways of expression, ranging from the traditional intaglio to the accumulation intaglio/ monotype / paint. This openness has allowed in 2001 the introduction of the digital image in addition to the experimental work.
Besides that research on the support which intervenes significantly for the projection of images. This support has often been a traditional printing paper, can also become recycled paper, cloth, any material likely to retain a trace.
Since 1987, there isn’t usually identical printing copy numbered anymore. Printmaking is seen as a possibility plastic with its own characteristics, in particular to provide the intermediary of a matrix. It allows a combinatorial images used on the basis of what they can suggest.
The repeated image became very present, as required by a form and expression through multiple coded signs specific to a specific logical that extends to all areas experienced plastic.
The work is being done to the reproduction of current or previous work, the question of relaxing the work unique. The establishment is therefore not always in the forms and landscapes invented. Where they exist, there is no need to create more. It's their transformation which becomes important.
In this informatics tools became necessary. It can be used without stopping the memory of what existed.
